The Sugar Room

Our unique open-air banquet room at Cafe O‘Lei at The Plantation is full of character, featuring authentic artifacts from the original sugar mill on which the property is built.

The Sugar Room can accommodate up to 170 guests and features a built-in bar and a stage perfect for live music. We provide all the dining essentials for your event so you can focus on your special day.

 

The Royal Palm Lawn

Maui Tropical Plantation’s Royal Palm Lawn is surrounded by lush greenery and sits between Cafe O‘Lei and Kumu Farms.

The Royal Palm Lawn has a maximum capacity of 200 guests and can be rented alongside the Sugar Room for larger events.

 

The Gazebo

A magical, intimate space next to the plantation lagoon, the Gazebo is perfect for dreamy weddings and small gatherings.

Host up to 50 guests in this luscious space with beautiful views of the West Maui Mountains.

 

The Field of Dreams

Dance at the foot of the West Maui Mountains on the Field of Dreams as you party the night away.

This is the largest venue space at Maui Tropical Plantation, accommodating up to 6,000 guests!

 

The Candle Room

A semi-private dining room at Cafe O‘Lei Kihei, the Candle Room is an excellent space for family gatherings, bridal showers, and intimate rehearsal dinners. The room has archways with curtains that can be drawn closed for more privacy.

Our talented team can bring Cafe O‘Lei to you! We are a full-service breakdown/clean-up team of experts in plated, buffet, family-style, and unique action stations, such as freshly fried malasadas and prime rib carving.

We’re experienced with many venues across the island, giving you the peace of mind that we know what we’re doing, no matter where you book your special day or event.

FAQs

  • Cafe O’Lei caters weddings, corporate events, birthday parties, retirement parties, celebrations of life, lunch/dinner meetings, baby showers, holiday parties, and more!

  • Many clients book far in advance – as soon as you know your date, give us a call to reserve it! We like to have at least 30 days' confirmation, but as long as we have the date available, we like to accommodate everyone – even last-minute events!
    Holiday parties book quickly! Some dates are booked 1 year in advance for Fridays and Saturdays. Book early!

  • We have options for all ranges of guest counts! If you need something for an intimate group of 25 or a large corporate event of 700, we can do it!

  • We service all of the island of Maui – for events farther than 20 miles away, there may be an additional travel fee.

  • We offer a tasting of our signature items for those clients who have not yet selected their menu. We also invite our guests to join our restaurant for dinner at their leisure. Let our catering manager know, and they will be happy to assist with a reservation.

  • Yes! We are happy to work with you to create a customized menu that fits your specific needs and budget.

  • Yes! We are very sensitive to medical allergies and take extra precautions to ensure your guests are as safe as possible. We offer alternatives to many of our items that work with specific dietary preferences!

  • Yes, we do! We offer keiki pricing for buffets and special keiki meals for plated events for children ages 4-12.

  • We offer our own dessert stations, but if you would like to bring in your own cake or dessert, you may for an additional fee.

  • Our service team arrives 2 hours prior to guest arrival to set up your space and ready it for your event. We handle everything involved in food service: setup, maintenance and breakdown of the event.

  • We offer bar packages for any events at Cafe O’Lei or Maui Tropical Plantation property.

    For off-site events, we prefer to partner with a bar service, allowing us to focus on food service. Let us know if you would like any recommendations for a great bar service!

  • Our team takes care of all food service setup and breakdown. We help with setting the tables and tablescapes.

  • Staffing is based on your final guest count, menu selection, and venue. Once those details are finalized, we are able to give you a breakdown of exactly how many staff are needed for your event.

  • Yes, we would love to show you our venues! Call or email us to schedule a visit so that one of our catering managers can go over all the options.

  • We offer tables, chairs, and linen napkins for all events in our Sugar Room.

    Rentals are needed for Maui Tropical Plantation venues and for any off-site event.

  • There is ample parking at Maui Tropical Plantation!

  • Gratuity is not included in our pricing. Our staff is grateful to receive any kind of gratuity for great service. Please let us know if you would like to add this to the final invoice.

  • We offer a full refund with 30+ days notice. Less than 30 days notice will incur a $500 late cancellation fee. Any event canceled within 7 days will be charged the full price.

  • Cafe O’Lei does not provide a coordinator for events. Events at The Maui Tropical Plantation require a licensed wedding coordinator. Inquire for a list of our trusted wedding coordinators!
